Welcome to Quilters 2

 

Quilters 2 is a group of quilters who come together regularly to enjoy fellowship and a common interest in the many aspects of quilting. The focus of the group is to produce quilts which are donated primarily to Tucson charities, although personal quilting is done as well. Materials used to produce charity quilts are all provided to the members at no cost. There is no membership fee.

 

During the peak winter season, there are over one hundred members of Quilters 2 who are engaged in whatever aspect of quilting they enjoy most. During the off season, about twenty members carry on the activity, and make sure everything is ready for the return of the “snow birds” the following season.

 

Beginners are always welcome. Beginner through advanced technique classes are offered for a very modest fee. Several sewing machines are available for use by those who cannot bring their own to the classes and meetings.

 

During the 2006/2007 season, the Handi Quilter Company in Bountiful, Utah, loaned Quilters 2 an HQ16 quilting machine. The purpose of the loan was to facilitate the production of charity quilts. HQ16 classes and certification are provided for a very modest fee.

 

Of the 300+ activities available at the Voyager, Quilters 2 is one of a very small number that are engaged in service to the Tucson community. Each year, approximately one hundred and fifty quilts are produced by the members, and are donated to about twenty carefully selected and needy charities.

 

Also, each year there are two fund raising raffles featuring extraordinary quilts. The many other activities include ‘Show and Tell” events as well as technique demonstrations at each meeting, challenge competitions for fun, shop hops, field trips, etc., etc. There also purely social events.
